India’s electric vehicle (EV) market is gearing up for a major shift in the next couple of years, with several leading car manufacturers lining up some of their most awaited electric models. From Maruti Suzuki to Mahindra, big names are all set to make their mark. Let’s take a look at 7 upcoming electric car launches that are expected to hit Indian roads by 2025-26.

1. Maruti e-Vitara: The Long-Awaited Electric SUV

Maruti’s first-ever EV for India, the e-Vitara, has been on the horizon for a while now. The wait, however, is almost over, as it’s slated for a grand Diwali 2025 launch. Built on the Heartect-e platform, the e-Vitara will come with two battery options: a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh pack, offering over 500 km of range on a full charge. Plus, expect high-tech features like 7 airbags as standard and Level 2 ADAS in higher variants.

2. Toyota Urban Cruiser EV: Maruti’s Partner

Toyota’s version of the Maruti e-Vitara, the Urban Cruiser EV, will be very similar in terms of platform, battery, and motor. It’s expected to launch about three months after the e-Vitara’s release. The 49 kWh battery variant will come with a FWD setup, while the 61 kWh version will get an AWD configuration.

3. Tata Sierra EV: A Modern Icon Returns

Tata is bringing back the iconic Sierra with a twist! The Sierra EV was showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo and promises a wealth of tech, including Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), Ultra-fast DC charging, and a 500+ km range. It will also come with a lifetime battery warranty. Positioned alongside the Harrier EV, expect pricing to be competitive. A petrol version will also be available for those not ready to make the EV switch.

4. Mahindra XEV 7e: India’s First 7-Seater Electric SUV

Get ready for India’s first-ever all-electric 7-seater SUV, the Mahindra XEV 7e. Expected to launch within the next 3-4 months, this electric XUV 7OO will come with 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs, offering a range of 600+ km on a full charge. While it won’t boast the bold styling of the XEV 9e, it will offer practicality and power for the whole family.

5. Kia Syros EV: A Competitor for the Nexon EV and XUV400

Although details are limited, we expect it to feature 42 kWh and 49 kWh NMC batteries, with a design and features inspired by the ICE version of the Syros. More updates are expected soon, so stay tuned!

6. Volvo EX30: The Swedish Brand’s Smallest EV

Volvo’s EX30 will be the brand’s smallest electric SUV, scheduled for launch in August 2025. Built on the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), this SUV will come with a 69 kWh battery offering a driving range of 474 km. The EX30 is expected to be priced around Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom) thanks to local assembly in India.

7. Hyundai Ioniq 5: Sportier and More Stylish

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is getting a facelift, and it’s looking sportier than ever! The updated version, which was spotted earlier this year during test runs, will feature N elements for a more dynamic design. Inside, expect a new steering wheel and physical controls. The global-spec model will have an 84 kWh battery, offering a range of 515 km on the WLTP cycle. With an estimated price of Rs 50 lakh, the Ioniq 5 will give a tough fight to other high-end electric cars in the market.
